Her in the mirror

The women that I know could simply do anything.
Some find their voices young, discover what makes their hearts sing.
They defend the minorities and support causes of human rights,
understand how to pick their battles, choose their fights.
They take care of children, the elderly, the ill,
are realistic, hard-working and have above strong will.
They are fearless when thinking what is best for their kids and their families.
These women, they volunteer and guide the young, study hard, teach, have PhD's.
They plant flowers and cut fences, build backyard docks with their crew,
kick ass, crochet and work hard to make their dreams to come true.
They ride bicycles, longboards, motorcycles and horses,
find their guts to go back to school, step over to other paths and discover what their force is.

They study philosophy and concentrate on making the world, oh, so much better.
Some turn themselves around, save their own lives and the life of another.
They speak openly about their struggles and will lend an ear to their friends during theirs,
use their hands to create new things: make woolen shirts, build beds and design chairs.
They run awesome blogs and are beyond brave to change the course of their lives,
raise cool kids with good hearts and the best kind of high-fives.
They set goals and go after them, they fail, but get up again,
share their knowledge, wisdom, and celebrate whenever their student outsmarts them.
They have empathy, they feel strongly, inspire entire generations.
Sometimes they are far from home, but making the best of their situations.
They rally up to take care of those whose voices have been silenced and those in need,
lead the leaders, help the helpers, give voices to the voiceless, give back indeed.

They compete in the Olympics and train their own successors.
They live and breath mathematics, excel at chemistry, physics, become professors.
They swim against the stream and stand their ground,
know who they are and are not afraid to let themselves be found.
They know how to connect to people, and most importantly how to re-connect.
They crack jokes and are the light of the party in every aspect.
They remember their friends after the longest of time and send them their best.
Love their hobbies and want to share those with the rest.
They make conscious decisions for their families and for the entire human race.
When they panic, the breathe and walk out as better through the maze.
They drag their friends out of slumps and make them dance in the rain,
are artistic and onto an empty canvas they masterfully pour their pain.

They are our computer engineers, and all sorts of pioneers.
They discover new talents and create harmonious atmospheres.
They are adventurous, survivors, they think outside the box,
lead hikes, discover new things and climb the biggest rocks.
They praise the good, and raise the bar for the rest of us to follow,
create opportunities whenever they are lacking or feeling hollow.
They raise multilingual children and the best of two worlds they combine,
adapt, adjust, adhere, oh fuck it, drink a big glass of wine.
These women dare to talk about taboos and write great articles, they don't judge.
They perform and start new traditions, forget an old grudge.
They notice when they are needed, keep faith even in the darkest of hours,
ride their bikes in heels and curse the rain, but go on despite the showers.

They are our nurses, aerospace engineers, coaches and technicians,
our architects, instigators, caregivers, IT professionals and politicians.
They have a knack for a business and keep on fulfilling their purpose.
They make, share and produce culture, albeit sometimes it's a circus.
They run their lives and create jobs to others to run theirs,
mediate, advice, handle exceedingly demanding affairs.
They write code and books, fix, edit, go ahead and get published,
use their brains, network and know how to become established.
They train dogs and horses, play chess and set new directions.
They know a face, a name, once met, never forgetting what their connection is.
They inspire others and are there for their friends even during the hardest of storms.
They shatter the old, pick and choose the traditions and then create the new norms.

They speak their fucking minds, even when no one is there to agree,
are blunt and print cunts on shirts just to make a point to be seen.
They take the best bits and fuse them into something completely new,
they are the fresh generation, but give credit where it's due.
They dare to start over, after losing absolutely everything and more.
They let you know when you're about to make a mistake and will hold you accountable for.
They exceed themselves, rise to new heights by sharing stories, running for causes.
They empower others, lift people out of poverty, but never for the applauses.
They start new companies and organizations, even with odds stacked against them,
learn from their own mistakes and then get up and try again.
They cherish their families, sparing no expense,
know when to let go and when to give their all to their friends.

They refuse to be outshined by others, making their own name in their own game.
Learn and grow, avoiding stagnation, never remaining too long the same.
They roll up their sleeves and don't give a crap what others might think of them,
make difficult decisions and overcome as winners, time and time again.
They know their worth and won't sell themselves short whatever life may bring.
They encourage the uncertain, uproot old attitudes and come up with new ways of doing an old thing.
They are persistent, surprising, fierce, beautiful and tough.
They share their hearts and spend their time with those in need, are present enough.
They have an eye for harmony and share it with their world.
They remember the smallest wishes of those around them that went unheard,
and look for chances to make those come true,
because they understand the priceless value.

They find similarities between two odds and know when to concentrate on new journeys,
travel to the end of the world to open their minds, never begging, never to be forced on their knees.
They are precise, honest, eccentric and open to the world of possibilities,
fix their houses, plant their gardens, climb church towers despite any disabilities.
They learn from others' mistakes and celebrate every victory,
join easily, enjoy themselves, creating new stories.
They are kind and thoughtful, they work on the happiness of others,
because they don't take themselves too seriously, only where it matters.
They make the best possible decisions with the resources available,
know when they are in the right place at the right time and admit when they aren't capable.
They get lost in the service of others, discover themselves anew.
They forgive themselves about their pasts, but find a meaning in it too.

But most importantly the relationship that will forever last,
admitting to herself at last,
she now sees even clearer,
is the one with her in the mirror.
