Day 22: A letter to someone

Today's blogging task is to write a letter to someone, anyone. I have thought about this since last night and today decided I'm going to write a letter to younger self about the things I wish I knew sooner. A sort of a Baz Luhrmann's Sunscreen personalized.

Dear younger me,

I want to tell you something.
You're enough as you are. You don't need to change who you are to meet others' expectations of yourself. Stand your frigging ground, even when your legs tremble.
Don't hold grudges or anger. You'll feel a lot better when you let that shit go.
Always trust your gut. It is based on a million subtle lessons you have subconsciously absorbed and therefore it's if not always, often, spot on.
No one else is "ready", either. You shouldn't keep on waiting for the perfect moment to start working on that dream. Perfect moments are always this moment. A year from now you'll wish you started yesterday.
Whenever an opportunity presents itself, go to a sauna.
Take care of yourself. It's much easier to do that when you're young than when you're even a somewhat older.
Floss.
You don't need perfect circumstances to be happy. Some of the happiest moments in my life I've had when cycling in the rain.
You can learn almost anything you put your mind onto.
Stay curious. Get involved with interesting things you don't know much about.
Don't wait for a secret skill to reveal itself. Learn those skills by putting serious practice hours into them.
Eat your veggies.
Give your children as many cuddles, kisses and compliments you can. You can't spoil your children with love.
Enjoy the meals others prepare for you. One of the greatest joys is to get to sit at the table when someone else poured their love for food on your plate.
Acknowledge that no one is ever going to be 100% compatible with you - and that's the great part.
Laughter is important. Find the things that make you laugh and consume them.
Learn the limits of your comfort zone and cross the line every once in a while.
It's essential to keep on moving. It doesn't matter much what it is that you're doing, as long as you do something. It will always teach you about yourself or your surroundings, and will help you work toward a better understanding of what it is that you feel you are supposed to do with your life.
Be kind, always. You never know what other people are going through.
Easiest way to make friends is to ask a lot of questions. People love answering questions.
What you give will always come back to you. Good and bad.
People always have their reasons to be or to do something. Usually those don't have anything to do with you, so don't over analyze other people's behaviors.
Dance and sing more often. If you suck, form a punk band.
Read Andy Weir's "The Egg" sooner.
