TUT 30 Day Challenge and Water Challenge - Day 29

"What is it that the future wiser version of you would tell who you are today? What would the future you tell you today about the journey?"

During this Love Your Life for 30 Days challenge I've done quite a few of these "looking into a crystal ball" practices, and despite somehow getting through them each time, I find them always very challenging in the beginning.

So here goes...

Looking back, 2017 seems like a turning point for you. You felt you were stuck in the mud throughout the year 2016, not really getting anywhere with your dreams and ideas, but you were simply laying the groundwork for the future. You should always trust that you are doing the best you can at that moment. I'm glad somewhere on the road you let go of comparing your own beginning to someone else's ending, and learned to tackle your own things in your own speed.
What you didn't realize then is how fast your children do grow. Luckily you did catch up soon enough and learned to stay more focused on the present moment with them.
Some of the things you thought you needed to make you happy, ha, I'm older and luckily also a bit wiser now, and can tell you that things will never make you truly happy. But the good news is that you can find happiness in any circumstance and in anything if you just let it happen to you.
The future me is happy the past you started this journey and as long as you keep on developing yourself and your skills, future looks good for you.



Water Challenge

So much behind... On the other hand I've had about four or five cups of coffee today, a cup of tea and a small glass of raspberry-pomgranate juice. As much as I'm trying to remember to drink tap water from the morning on, it's hard. I am simply not thirsty and it feels forced. I usually start counting my water intake from the afternoon on and end up having to drink up to a half a liter before going to bed. Good planning, Tarja, good planning.

I heart enough

About a month ago I woke up to my snooze alarm clock. Usually I stay in bed for five minutes with my eyes closed after waking up, thinking about all the good things I expect from the day. That morning though I realized I had been snoozing too much and we were running late, so I jumped out of bed and started dressing up. Suddenly I felt my pulse rising. I removed all of my Instagram followers to feel free to be authentically me

Tonight I removed all of my followers on Instagram. It was a private account with some 200+ followers, but I admit, removing most of them actually hurt. I did it, because Instagram was no longer the social media I began using in July 2012. In the beginning I would only post pictures of our every day life. Whenever my children were in the photos, I would photograph them so that you couldn't see their faces. Then somewhere in the middle I turned my then public account into a private one and started to share more open content. Over the years I've posted nearly 4000 pictures of our every day life. In the end I realized I was looking at the number of people liking my posts rather than the posts and trying to understand why the adorable picture of my kid got three likes, or the actually very beautiful picture of a make-believe satellite received full two likes, while someone's black and white picture of a cake - that would be impossible to understand was cake without the desc

Icy rain reveals personality

I was born and raised in Finland and needless to say, I have experienced cold, snowy winters. Ten years ago I moved to the Netherlands and since then I have experienced cold, rainy winters that sometimes turn into warm, rainy winters. Today I happened to be picking up my kids from school just when icy drizzle was scheduled. Yes, I should've dressed everyone in rain proof clothing, but usually we manage that one kilometer in a drizzle no problem. I evaluated the rain wasn't going to bother us too much, but I completely forgot to calculate in the effect of the ice cold rain. My kids have proper rain attire. Too bad I had left it all at home. When we were leaving school, a boat was passing and our bridge was closed. Not to freeze while waiting, I decided it was better to keep on moving, and cycle through another bridge, even though it added half a kilometer.
